The Diplomate of National Board (DNB) is a prestigious postgraduate or post-doctoral medical qualification awarded by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Statutorily recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as 100% equivalent to MD, MS, or DM/MCh degrees, DNB programs are primarily conducted in top-tier corporate, multi-specialty, and trust hospitals across India, as well as select government medical centers. While traditional MD/MS courses are hosted in university medical colleges with a heavy focus on academic lectures and university-bound exams, DNB residency emphasizes high-volume clinical exposure, hands-on patient management in modern corporate hospitals, and rigorous centralized exit examinations.
